Carl and Tracy York started Bug Off Pest in 2019 out of Punta Gorda. We still live in the area we serve, which means when a storm pushes rodent and mosquito activity through the roof, we’re dealing with it at our own house too.
We built the company around a simple idea: inspect first, explain what we found, quote the price, and don’t treat anything until the customer has agreed to it. That’s not a marketing position. It’s a reaction to how often people told us they’d been charged for work nobody explained to them.

Do you use eco-friendly and approved pest control chemicals?
How often should pest control services be scheduled?
Quarterly is the standard in Southwest Florida. The warm, humid climate keeps pests breeding year round, so there’s no dormant season to skip. Homes on canals, near preserves or under heavy tree canopy often need more frequent service. Your free inspection will tell you which applies to your property.
What preparation is required before starting pest control treatment?
Exterior work needs almost nothing: pull items away from the foundation and trim back plants touching the house. Interior work means clearing countertops, opening access to baseboards, and putting away pet food and water bowls. Flea and bed bug treatments get a specific preparation checklist when you schedule.
Do you offer follow-up inspections after treatment is completed?
Yes. Most infestations need follow-up to stay solved, so recurring plans include scheduled return visits. If pests show up between those visits while your plan is active, we come back at no additional charge.
Can pests return after completing the pest control treatment?
They can, particularly in Florida where outdoor pressure is constant. That’s why we seal entry points rather than only treating what’s already inside, and why our plans include a return-visit guarantee. If something comes back between scheduled services, that callback costs you nothing.
Do you exterminate honey bees?
No. We never exterminate honey bees. We remove the colony alive, relocate it somewhere it can thrive, and repair any structural damage the hive caused inside walls or soffits. Bees are pollinators and we treat them accordingly.
Do you serve farms and livestock operations?
Yes. Alongside residential and commercial work we handle barn and stable fly control, livestock pest protection, equine pest management and pasture fire ant treatment across Charlotte, DeSoto, Lee and Sarasota counties.
