Aobiid/Powderpost Beetles Damage
They are elongate-oval and have the head deflected downward. these beetles are about 1/8 to 1/4 inch long and they develop in softwoods such as pine or hardwoods such a soak in structures thy are common in sub-floors of structures. they lay their eggs in the large pores and cracks of the wood and the larvae bore into the wood and feed on it then the adult beetles emerge from the wood by boring circular emergence holes in the wood 1/16 -1/8 inch holes.

Sometimes infests the structural timbers of old buildings. The adult beetles are brown and measure on average about 7 mm long. Eggs are laid in dark crevices in old wood inside buildings, trees and inside tunnels left behind by previous larvae. The larvae bore into the timber, feeding for up to ten years before pupating, and later emerging from the wood as adult beetles.
